Schedule Lockdown Drill
MMS will have a scheduled Lockdown Drill on Friday, April 13th.
Aloha Parents/Guardians - Molokai High School along with Molokai Middle School will be practicing a lockdown drill on Friday, April 13, 2018 between 8:55 am蝶:25 am. No students will be released or allowed to sign-out between these times.
This will be the first time Molokai High School will be practicing a lockdown during recess. These drills are crucial in ensuring that all staff and students are familiar with the lockdown protocols. The Maui Police Department will be on campus to provide assistance and evaluate the effectiveness of the drill.

Molokai Sweeps State Robotic Championship Titles!!!!
Congratulations to MMS Robotics Team who took 1st & 2nd place at the 2018 State VEX IQ Robotic Championships. They will be heading to World's!!! Congratulations to Kualapuu Elementary School who also won the Elementary School Division. Trophies & Awards also went to teams from Kaunakakai Elementary & Akaula schools. Molokai has officially qualified 3 teams to head to the World's Championship in Kentucky. MMS Robotics Team will be heading to States!!!
Teams participated in the last STEM Day on Molokai as well as competed on Maui this past weekend. Team 434M Menehune Farmers will be representing Molokai at the 2018 Hawaii State VEX IQ Championships in January. Congratulations to Owen Svetin, Isaiah Hanchett-Lopez & Shaianlyn Hanaoka-Soares who won the Excellence Award @ STEM Day on Molokai & Owen Svetin & K.C. Alvarez (not pictured) for winning the first place Teamwork Champions Award as well as the Excellence Award on Maui this weekend. Congrats to Coach Kumu Kaeo and Coach Kumu Kahoiwai.
MMS Girl's VB Team win Maui REACH Athletic Tournament
Congratulations to a great Volleyball season! The Boys & Girl's Teams competed in their last tournament this weekend on Maui. The girl's team won all games, finishing off the Middle School VB Season with a 7-1 record. Mahalo to the Coaches, Student-Athletes, Parents, MMS Teachers, Staff, and Administration for supporting the Lt. Governor's REACH Initiative. It is in it's second year at the Middle School Level. MMS Boys & Girls VB Teams Compete on Maui
The Boys team went 1-3 and the Girls 3-1. They travel again next week. Good job Coaches & Athletes
7th Graders Visit Hōkule'a on Molokai
Over a hundred MMS 7th Graders went on a field trip to visit Hōkule'a. Organizer and Social Studies Teacher, Kumu Kelly Ka'awa Richardson, along with other Staff & students, spent the last couple of days learning 'on deck' about the double-hulled 'Star of Gladness' Polynesian Voyaging Canoe. The field trip was also spent partnering with Malama Agencies where students picked up trash, visited local stores and shared their voices through messages they created on what they care about.
MMS Brings Home Robotic Honors
Team Kalo and Team Menehune from MMS brought home two 2nd Place Tournament Champion trophies from the 2017 Lahaina VEX IQ season opener. Both teams were paired in the Finalist round competing in a field of twenty-one teams from Maui and Oahu. Team Kalo featured captain Kaualea Helm and driver Kathleen Claire Alvarez. Team Menehune featured captain Owen Svetin with driver Isaiah Hanchette-Lopez.
Push for 3.0 G.P.A!!
Over 100 students made a 3.0 GPA and higher at MMS for 1st Quarter. Push for 3.0 Ice Cream Sundae Incentive Party is in it's second year at MMS and made possible by the generosity of Kamoi's Snack & Go Limited. Mahalo to Aunty Kim Svetin and the Kamoi workers for scooping the ice cream and preparing all the toppings for the sundaes. Keep up the good work students!!!!

Chess Team at National Chess Tournament
MMS recently had 4 participants compete in the National Chess Tournament on Oahu and it was the first time three out of the four had a chance to participate. Everyone came out with at least one victory with the top player Kaelo Kalani winning 3 out of 5 games. Chess Coach, Mike Hino says, "We all came out of this with enjoyable experiences and lots to learn and build upon." Hino wants to thank MMS and Principal Dawn Mains for their support. SCC Ohana Night
Please join the School Community Council (SCC) Ohana Night on Tuesday, Oct. 24th from 5-6 p.m. at the MMS Cafeteria for a night of entertainment, light pupu's & lucky number prizes! Principal Dawn Mains will also be sharing the Academic and Financial Plan for the 2017-2018 school year. Community input would be greatly appreciated! We look forward to seeing you!
Girl's B-Ball Team have Undefeated Season
Congratulations to the MMS Boys & Girls Basketball Teams for a successful season. Mahalo to Coaches, Nohea Pangkee, Kirby Kester, Ahi Meyer & Koa Burrows. The Girl's Team finished out the season undefeated with a 6-0 record!
Fifteen Molokai Teams compete at MMS Robotic Tournaments
Molokai VEX IQ Robotics League Tournaments got off to a great start after holding two successful tournaments at MMS. The first one drew 15 on-island teams. Results from the second tournament held this past weekend will be forthcoming.
